Turkey Hunting and the Ark

Winchester and I just spent tw full days starting a 4 in the morning scouting out the southern part of the state for turkeys. We covered a lot of ground a discovered some good spots for the future. Found lots of poop, scratchings and tracks. Friday morning we got a hen all fired up and she came right to us maybe 15 yards away which was cool but would have been a lot cooler if she had the big dog with her. Anyway the hunting was a bust but had an epic day on the Arkansas river with Pete and Chris. Chris got word they were dropping the flows and suspected that with the 75 degree day that was forecasted there would be a substantial caddis hatch. He was right and the fish were going crazy. We all caugt a ton of fish on dry flies and the were all in the 11 to 14 inch range which was nice. I hooked into a big dog that I spotted while billy goating around on the rocks but he spanked me in a matter of seconds.

Habitat

A group of us from school and Sarah just got back from volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Denver. We all had a great time and got a lot done. Thank you Erin Humphries for organizing the event. I got to put my retaining wall skills to good use, and Sarah got to practice her roofing skills. She also patented her two handed hammer swing.

brutal week

Almost through with a pretty brutal week. I have had to give a presentation everyday this week, and I have one left tomorrow. Not complaining though it is good for me, and they have all gone really well. Pitched CollegeWeekends.com last night to our feasibility class and had a really good response and a lot of good suggestions and ideas. So all in all it has been a good week. All I need now is an internship. Had a really good interview last week with a start up company called Lijit. They are the company that developed the search engine widget that I have attached to this blog. Truth be told the only reason I am now blogging was because Walter Knapp the guy who interviewed me recomended it. Now I am really glad he did b/c I am totally into it. Got some bad press for that branding video but despite that it has been a rewarding experience, and I plan on keeping it up. Keep your fingers crossed for me on the Lijit internship.

Also I discovered maybe the coolest website of all time last night. Check it out www.pandora.com

Too complicated to completely explain here but basically what happens is you go to this website and type in a couple of songs and or artists that you like and this site basically builds your own personal radio station around the kind of music you like. Got to check it out for yourself to totally appreciate it.

Branding Day

Just got back from Grassman's. This is my buddy that lives on a sweet farm east of town. He is generous enough to have Dex and I out there all the time to go hunting and fishing. Our most recent adventure was helping the cowboys that run the farm brand and vaccinate all the cows they calved this year. I have attached some good pics and video.

I thought it was really tough and got tossed around by a couple calfs, but notice the girls in the video making it look easy.

Great time and a cool experience.

Thanks Matt and Jon.

A-basin beach day

Despite a lowsy forecast the weather was great for the beach. We got about 7 inches of fresh snow the night before so the doctor and I got in a lot of good turns early. Then Jud and Kyle joined us after a quick PBR for some more runs. Kyle's uni-suit was pretty outrageous. Grilled up some burgers and dogs for lunch and played a little can jam and then made the poor decision to get back on the mountain. Traversed over to the east wall and got some great powder turns until I stacked it on my face and got laughed at by close to hundred people. Should have stuck to can jam. Weather took a turn for the worse and so we decided to head home after a little more grub at the beach.

ALso worth noting the doctor and I saw ski patrol set off two huge slides early in the morning.
